malaysian adventure

ok, now my attempt to blog about my trip to malaysia! i have to do this now because i might not have any time next week, and my singapore-phuket trip might catch up. :P

the plane ride

i rode malaysia airlines, which is a partner of philippine airlines, so my confidence level is quite high. ;) wish hunny was with me coz he calms me down and he laughs at me when i get scared. :P

hatid ni mommy and joel. :)

pilot announced light snacks will be served... light nga! but this fish rice meal immediately followed. food no good. ugh.

hard rock cafe

when i arrived at concorde, ato was waiting there for me. adjacent to my hotel is malaysia's hard rock cafe, so we went there for dinner, with all my luggage in tow. i ate pepper steak, which unfortunately, i wasn't able to take a picture of (bad, bad myls). it was ato's treat, thanks ato! :D

genting highlands

genting highlands is actually their version of ocean park or enchanted kingdom. from kuala lumpur, it's a one-hour drive. but instead of taking the direct route bus, we opted to take the train, the bus and the cable car. malas kami kasi "school holiday", so there are a lot of people going there. in fact, it took us about an hour queuing at the cable car. :( malas lang talaga coz according to ato, gimmick nights are only on fridays, and malaysians don't really go out during saturdays and sundays.

upon arriving, you can really notice the difference in climate between kl and genting! malamig sa genting, and saksakan ng ubod ng sobra ng init sa kl! wala pong hangin sa city, and kahit gabi man, di lumalamig. and very humid talaga! malaysia kasi is nearer the equator. sa totoo lang, di ko talaga kakayaning tumira dito. :P

anyway, check out our pictures!

my favorite picture at genting, nice 'no?

our lunch - bak kut teh and dumplings. kainis kasi walang soy sauce and calamansi dito.

first ride at the 'spinner', their version of 'flying fiesta'. kaya ko 'to mag-isa. Ü

ok, so i still wasn't able to ride this. 'space shot' is their version of hong kong's 'the abyss turbo drop' which i didn't ride either. :P

aboard the 'corkscrew', their version of 'space shuttle'. o di ako kj ha. :)

hunny follows me around! ;)

i rode the 'flying coaster'! yipee! jamie will be proud of me. :)

my first taste of snow at snow world!

ang walang kwenta at nakakahilong 4d movie. :( as in walang kwenta, malabo pa yung glasses. nahilo talaga kami, energy level dropped. :(

all these made possible by ato's generosity. :D this is his birthday treat for me (parang baliktad 'no?). thanks ato!

petronas twin towers at night

we left genting at around 7pm coz our bus leaves at 8:15pm. take note, malaysia is on dst, that's why it only gets dark at around 8pm! :O

we decided to eat at suria klcc and afterwards, i had my first pictorial at the petronas twin towers. sop ata ito pag pumupuntang kuala lumpur. hehe.

concorde hotel

it's now time to check-in at concorde, good thing, they have an available room so i was able to check-in as early as 8am. :) yey, i have a tub! :D

check out the view!

i thought about walking around kuala lumpur while waiting for berna to arrive from singapore (eta 2:30pm), but due to the smoldering heat of the city, i opted to order room service. i tried their version of kaya toast which i often order at kopiroti called 'roti kahwin', masarap naman! :) and it's only RM20. mahal pero relatively mura.

shangri-la hotel

when berna arrived, we went to shangri-la to pick up my conference badges and stuff. during our short stay there, i met phil hearn from mrdc software (who doesn't remember me, haha), alby laran from coca cola, and vivian tin.

petronas twin towers during daytime

being the photoholic me, i wanted pictures of the petronas during daytime also. scalding heat enveloped us, but i can't pass up this opportunity. :D i can very well say that we're minutes away from skin cancer in this city! :P

little penang kafe @ klcc

it's settled then, malaysian food sucks! why does everything have to be spicy? filipino food is faaaaar better than their food. sucks!!!!!!!!

eye on malaysia

this is actually a ferris wheel, the the tallest portable observation wheel in south-east asia. this is similar to the london eye. they said you can get a pretty good view of the city when you ride it. unfortunately, still because of the school holiday, there were a lot of people on queue, so we just took pictures. sir ferdie now joined us after his workshop. :)

we weren't able to catch the show because toni was meeting us for dinner at klcc.

san francisco steakhouse

sf's treat at sf steakhouse. haha. this is his birthday treat for berna and me. :) i ate mushroom steak, sarap! di kasi malaysian food e. hehehe. thanks sir!

petronas @ night, take two

of course, the pack wanted to take pictures of petronas at night also, and so, my second pictorial at the famous twin towers.

gloria jeans malaysia

yey! i was able to try gj in malaysia! i wasn't able to when i was in singapore in 2005, so i'm so happy! the mocha wasn't very good though, there were a lot of coffee bits which stuck to my teeth! gj phils is definitely better! what's different though is they serve food here.

esomar conference

and so the real reason for my stay here begins. :) i was able to meet different people from all over the world... the conference too was very informative and educational. by far, it's the best conference i've attended. sulit naman yung euro1125 conference fee. shet ang mahal diba? kaya nakinig po ako ng mabuti. :D

menara kl tower

dinner was sponsored by tns on the first night of the conference. it was held at the mega view of kl tower. siyempre, picture first. :) berna was still here because she missed her flight in singapore! :D we just decided to meet up with ruthie and her husband glenn. since i had a dinner to attend to, they just went ahead and had their dinner at the revolving restaurant right below our deck. i just followed na lang. ganda ng view! at ang mahal ng pagkain, imagine, for 1 set meal, its RM124!:O

***march 13***

alby, my newfound friend

i got to know alby during the last day of the conference. nakahanap ako ng kasundo! she also lugs around her tripod everywhere! woohoo!!! aside from that, she's a very creative person... check out her scrapbook creations at www.myscrapworks.com. aliw sa colors!!!

central market, take two

after the conference, we went to central market and bought all the abubots that we would need for pasalubong. i was such a manic shopper, i bought more souvenirs. hindi na naman para sa akin. :( i just bought a yellow cuff bracelet which i know is not available here in the philippines (kasi all jewelries there looks like the stuff here in manila anyway).

klcc forever, giordano and sasa

since alby is traveling alone, i just asked her to join ato and i for dinner. but before that, we did last minute pasalubong shopping at klcc - giordano and sasa for everybody! again, not for me. just have that leftover lip gloss which i don't know who to give. :P sorry, nagamit ko na so akin na talaga yun. :D

cold storage

we also bought goodies and munchies at cold storage, a supermarket in klcc. bought malaysian munchies na according to jumie, "tastes malaysian", which i suppose, is not very good, kasi halos di pa nababawasan. hahaha! totoo naman, malaysian food no good! :P

chili's @ klcc

afterwards, ato, alby and i ate at chili's... andaming food! di namin naubos, pero masarap naman (we all agreed to eat somewhere non-malaysian, haha!). bad me, di ko na naman nakuhanan ung food. what's with malaysia that i'm suddenly forgetful? :( we had a nice dinner and endless conversations, so ang saya. :)

petronas twin towers, nth take

since alby still doesn't have pictures at petronas and petronas at night, we trooped down to the pictorial area again and did some photo shoots, with alby's tripod in tow. she has great pics there, but nasa camera niya e. i just took 2 pictures of us three afterwards. :)

uwian na

tapos, uwian na! yey!

and so, there goes my malaysian adventure...
